Community Pledge
Nani Waimea—beautiful, indeed. A place shaped by storied ʻāina, the moʻolelo of its people, and generations of ʻike and tradition that continue to guide the path forward.
In 2023, Hawaiʻi Community Foundation brought together the people of Waimea through a series of community conversations—listening to what the community loves and what is envisioned for its future. These conversations helped shape a community pledge to unite the people of Waimea on a path forward toward a shared, thriving future.
These conversations are also guiding the award of Richard Smart Fund grants, supported by distributions from the Parker Ranch Foundation Trust. Stewarding this work is the Waimea Community Weaving Hui, a group of dedicated volunteers whose kuleana is to help align funding with the community’s vision for the future.
The community pledge shares these collective values, hopes, and dreams—creating space for all of Waimea to see where they fit and how they can contribute.

Waimea Needs All of Us
The Waimea community engaged in a series of conversations to explore its values, priorities, and challenges. Participants reflected on what should be preserved, the obstacles the community faces, and potential solutions. These discussions highlighted the importance of building trust, collaboration, shared aloha, and kuleana, and helped define collective priorities and next steps to guide future actions in Waimea.
